By Saturday, the week has taken its toll.
Lent is not dramatic now. It is simply present.
There is a temptation to evaluate. To measure. To grade our spiritual effort like a performance review. Fortunately, God does not appear to use spreadsheets.
The covenant rests not on our perfection but on God’s faithfulness.
Saturday invites rest in the middle of the climb. Not abandonment of the journey — but trust within it.
You have walked this week. Imperfectly, perhaps. But faithfully enough.
Before Lent 3 arrives with fresh demands, pause.
Receive mercy. Breathe. Begin again.
Companion Prayer
Faithful God,
You sustain what you begin.
Receive this week —
its effort and its imperfection.
Let us rest in your covenant,
trust in your patience,
and rise tomorrow renewed.
Hold us in your mercy
as we continue the climb.
Amen.
